The International Cultural Diversity Festival (ICDF) is a vibrant celebration of Heritage Month, bringing together students, staff, and community members to honour the rich cultural diversity represented at the University of the Free State (UFS) and beyond. The University of the Free State Directorate for International Partnerships and Relations, in collaboration with Student Affairs, the SRC: Arts and Culture, and the Unit for Institutional Change and Social Justice, invites student associations, cultural groups, societies, and performance collectives to participate in the Annual International Cultural Diversity Festival 2026.
Date: 23 September 2026
Time: 12:00 - 00:00
Venue: Outside the Centenary Complex, Bloemfontein Campus
To promote meaningful intercultural engagement and strengthen diversity and inclusion on campus, we encourage local and international student associations to collaborate and showcase performances that reflect both local and global cultural traditions.
We invite groups to submit performances in the following categories:
- Dance or Performance with Elements of Poetry
- Singing with Elements of Poetry
The primary objective of the competition is to encourage you to creatively integrate and showcase a fusion of local culture and an international culture representation. Through music, movement, storytelling, and poetic expression, contestants will be required to demonstrate how diverse cultural traditions can come together to create meaningful and innovative performances.
Each category stands a chance to win R10 000.00 in prize money which will be awarded to the winning student group, in the form of a voucher.
