Biography:
Dr Angela Stott is a senior lecturer in Science Education in the Faculty of Education. A C2-rated researcher and an award-winning, innovative teacher, Angela focuses on effective science teaching and learning in the African context. She adopts a pragmatic, cognitively grounded research approach, emphasising structured project-based learning and the integration of artificial intelligence as a flipped-interaction intelligent tutor to support deep learning. Beyond academia, Angela contributes to open educational practice through her platform, LearnScience.co.za, and its associated YouTube channel, where she develops accessible teaching and learning resources.
Stefan Scheepers is a higher education professional specialising in learning design, academic development, and the integration of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in teaching and learning. He currently serves as a Lecturer and AI Coordinator, where he leads curriculum development, staff training, and institutional initiatives focused on the ethical and effective use of AI in education.
Stefan holds two master’s degrees—one in Higher Education from the University of the Free State and another from the University of Edinburgh, where he focused on AI in higher education. His work sits at the intersection of pedagogy, technology, and data-informed decision-making, with a strong emphasis on improving student success and future-proofing graduate skills.
With experience spanning lecturing, research, and project coordination, Stefan has led faculty-level initiatives, facilitated workshops, and contributed to innovative assessment and curriculum strategies. He is particularly interested in how emerging technologies can enhance, rather than replace, meaningful learning processes.
