 This session will introduce the AI theme in the UFS Digital Skills and Com
 petencies Pathway and explain how it supports students in developing pract
 ical and responsible AI capabilities. The second part of the session will 
 demonstrate simple\, beginner-friendly\, ways in which university staff ca
 n use AI to save time in everyday work. Participants will be introduced to
  reusable prompts and practical AI-supported workflows for everyday work t
 asks such as organising information\, drafting communications\, developing
  initial content structures and reviewing documents. The session will conc
 lude with practical dos and don’ts for using AI responsibly\, accurately
  and safely.\nSession outline\n· The AI theme in the Digital Skills and C
 ompetencies Pathway: An overview of what students can learn\, how they can
  access the pathway and how lecturers can encourage participation.\n· Sma
 ll AI habits that save time: Beginner-friendly demonstrations of how AI ca

 ly: How reusable prompts and simple workflows can reduce the time spent on

 ng sensitive information\, verifying outputs and retaining human oversight

 n\nBiography: \n\n\nAnneri Meintjes Deputy Director: Evidence-Based Chang
 e\, Centre for Teaching and Learning\, University of the Free State\nAnner
 i Meintjes leads the Evidence-Based Change focus area in the Centre for Te
 aching and Learning at the University of the Free State. Her work focuses 
 on using research and institutional evidence to strengthen student success
 \, teaching and learning\, and educational practice. She was also involved
  in the development and expansion of the UFS Digital Skills and Competenci
 es Pathway\, which supports students in developing practical capabilities 
 for learning\, work and participation in an increasingly digital world.\nR
 ohan Posthumus Data Scientist\, Centre for Teaching and Learning\, Univers
 ity of the Free State\nRohan Posthumus leads and contributes to data analy
 tics and research initiatives in the UFS Centre for Teaching and Learning.
  His work includes advanced statistical analysis and modelling\, data mana
 gement\, research methodology\, and the development of software tools and 
 applications that improve research and analysis workflows. He also provide
 s training and guidance on data analysis and interpretation. Drawing on hi
 s programming expertise and advanced use of AI\, Rohan develops practical 
 solutions that make complex and repetitive tasks more efficient.\n\n\n \n
