As of 1 July 2025, Jan-Albert van den Berg will be entering a new phase in his academic career as a research fellow in the Department of Practical and Missional Theology, Faculty of Theology and Religion
Over the past 22 years, Jan-Albert has conducted research, presented lectures, provided supervision, engaged in management and administration, and served the community under the central theme of seeking God's presence in and meaning for all aspects of the human story. During this time, he also furthered his own studies and obtained, among others, qualifications in Theology, Psychology, and Futures Studies from the University of Pretoria, UNISA, Stellenbosch University, and the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia.
For eight years (1995–2003), Jan-Albert was a minister in the Dutch Reformed Church in Derdepoort (Pretoria) and Humansdorp until his appointment as lecturer at the UFS.
Although a new chapter is now on the horizon, it remains a privilege for him to pursue his calling every day of his life. He is married to Jeannine, and they have two daughters,
Mandi and Mineé.
