Engagement Session - Apartheid era gun-running operation

Africa/Johannesburg
Centenary Complex, Chancellor's room
Description

3rd/4th year and postgraduate students in ethics, philosophy, politics and governance

This is your opportunity to engage a visiting scholar from the US on the topic of the Apartheid era gun-running operation. The session explores perspectives on the gun-running operation – particularly thoughts about utilitarianism and the ethics of the operation itself - was it ethical to transport weapons underneath the seats of tourists? Who gets to decide if a cause is just? Should there be limits to utilitarianism? Limited space available – first 30 students will be registered. Meals will be provided.
