Description

This event is designed to provide introductory training to new and potential users of the UFS HPC.

Users will be introduced to the core concepts necessary to navigate the High-Performance Computing environment, including Linux, and how to start using the HPC resources at the University of the Free State.

Additionally, a practical tutorial will be presented on how to use the Linux Terminal.

      Introduction and description of the HPC Resources provided by the University of the Free State.

      This session will be blended, i.e. contain lecture sections and practical demonstrations.

      Linux and the Linux Terminal Demonstration (Note that the end time is unknown as this will be dependent on the progress of the participants)

      An introduction to the Linux Operating System followed by a practical (follow - along) demonstration of how to use the Terminal interface to navigate in a non-GUI Linux environment
